A walking vacation on the Isle of Wight Coastal Path is a wonderful way to discover the diverse beauty of this rambler’s paradise.

The Isle of Wight is just a short boat trip from mainland Britain and you will find yourself stepping back in time where life is lead at a more leisurely pace.

The Isle of Wight measures just 13 miles by 23 miles and with its changing landscapes, historical sites, Victorian seaside resorts and sleepy thatched villages you will find it never lacks variety. The Isle of Wight has an enviable sunshine record and fresh air that Alfred Lord Tennyson declared to be worth ‘sixpence a pint’!

The name 'Dinosaur Isle' has been often attributed to the Isle of Wight as over 20 species of dinosaur have been recognised and complete skeletons found.  Other historical interests include over 240 burial mounds from the Bronze Age which have been identified on the chalk downs.

There are Roman villas in Newport and Brading which are remarkably well preserved. William the Conqueror initiated the building of one of the Isle of Wight's historic Carisbrooke Castle. Norman settlers such as the Oglanders of Nunwell and the Worsleys of Appuldurcombe built splendid manor houses, and finally the Victorians who built their fashionable seaside resorts. Notably falling under the Isle of Wight's spell was Queen Victoria and Prince Albert who built and occupied Osborne House near Cowes for over half a century until her death in 1901.

Walking the Isle of Wight Coastal Path is a circular route which can be walked in either 5 or 7 days.
