The Cotswold Way Walk

Walking vacations on The Cotswold Way in England with The Walking Holiday Company

The Cotswold Way runs along the western escarpment of the Cotswold Hills where steep ridges and deeply carved coombes mark the action of ancient glaciers.

The Cotswold Way hiking tour takes you from Chipping Camden, a medieval English town to the spa city of Bath where you can still see the Roman Baths which have been preserved along with numerous artifacts in the adjoining museum.

Walking in the Cotswolds is a walk through English history passing a number of historical sites including several Neolithic burial mounds, numerous hill forts and prehistoric barrows, magnificent churches and mansion houses.

You will be walking through the largest Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) in Britain. You will certainly know you are in the Cotswolds with its gentle swell of uplands laced with dry stone walls and nestling villages of rich creamy stone.

For wild flower enthusiasts Cleeve Hill is particularly noted for its fine display and rich summer covering of harebells. The flowers bring with them the butterflies; Chalkhill Blues and Fritillaries, Meadow Browns and Cabbage Whites.

Bird life is plentiful, the Meadow Pipit may not be the most beautiful to look at but its song is a welcome accompaniment on a long walk. A keen eye will spot the Skylark, whilst Kestrels and Buzzards dance on the thermals.

The Cotswold Way National Trail explores one glorious village after another. There are the grotesque gargoyles of Winchcombe church, rose covered cottages in Stanton, the thatched cricket pavilion in Stanway or the Pittville Pump Room in Cheltenham.

Our Cotswold Way walking holidays have itineraries from 5 to 11 days. Take a look at our itinerary page and find the walk which is best suited to you.
